Jordan: the case of Ali Hattar

On Sunday, 24th of April, 2005, The Jordanian Court has sentenced the writer and engineer Ali Hattar for three months of Imprisonment on the basis of Article 191 of the Jordanian Criminal Law accusing him of reviling the Jordanian Government in a lecture he gave in public 4 months ago, asking people to Boycott the US products and listing the brutal history of the US policy towards the world.

The Case of Mr. Hattar remains a part of a whole Arabic people´s resistance against Imperialism and its puppets in the Arab World area, at the same time the US administration and its allies allege the attempts of reforms and democracy.

Nevertheless, Mr. Hattar´s case is still one of many cases that freedom fighters and patriotic people face for their freedom and the freedom of their country under the oppression of the governments´ official claims of Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights as a copy of a US policy system.

This open Invitation to the remaining believers in the World´s peace; not only to press on dropping the false allegations against Mr. Hattar, but to go beyond that by listing proper political and media procedures of a public lobby group towards changing the Jordanian legislative system, which respects the inherent Human Dignity, according to the Law of Nature taking in consideration the International Human Rights Law instruments, which provides the freedom of speech to all citizens.

Hence, this latter change is the only protective measure remaining against all the Anglo-Zionist US attempts of steering the Arab region to the benefit of the Imperialists and the globalisation of the world market.

Furthermore, Jordan´s historical and important geographic location between both occupied territories of Iraq and Palestine is considered to be the isolating partition to prevent a continuous support for the Palestinian and Iraqi resistance, and to halt any attempt of breaking the political blockade of Syria situated between the Zionist entity, occupied Iraq and Lebanon. Nevertheless, this important location is the safeguard of the USA and the Zionists plans and maps arranged for what is left of the Arab fortresses starting from Syria and ending with the west Arab countries.

Article 19 of both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights guarantees that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers". Furthermore, the Jordanian Constitution in Chapter 2 Article 15 states that "The State shall guarantee freedom of opinion. Every Jordanian shall be free to express his opinion by speech, in writing, or by means of photographic representation and other forms of expression".

Derived from what is stated above, the Jordanian Government´s allegations of Political Development and false Democratisation built on the official speeches and promises are all exposed by the reality of the number of political activists captive in discreet cells or the ones lying behind the bars due to false and/or illegal accusations.

Mr. Hattar´s love for his country and nation carried him to expose the US administrative plans that had been conceded against Humanity through out the world´s history, and because of his deep belief in the central Arab cause of Occupied Palestine, and the necessary support of our brothers fighting for their freedom in Iraq, he was willing to sacrifice his freedom for what is left of our dignity and pride, and to protect Jordan from humiliation and surrender to the occupying powers, refusing peace with betrayers who have compromised the honourable blood of the Arab martyrs.

We ask in this petition for the Arab and world human support to help drop the allegations against Mr. Hattar, although we still consider it to be a Noble medal and a rewarding sign engraved in the path taken by a handful of honourable men and women for the freedom of Jordan and the Arab Nation, and against the will of the political means agreed upon in the secret US embassy lobbies through out the Arab world.
