Am Samstag fanden sich mehr als 350 Menschen ein, um am Konzert für SUMUD (Standhaftigkeit) teilzunehmen. Eingeladen war zum Benefizkonzert für palästinensische Flüchtlingskinder und Jugendliche. Das Konzert soll Helfen im südlibanesischen Flüchtlingslager Ein el-Hilwe ein Bildungszentrum für die Jugend aufzubauen und zu betreiben. During the day the leaders of CPI (Maoist) clarified through a long statement that they were not responsible for the train tragedy and condemned any possible sabotage work if any force involved behind the incident. Das Ausmaß an Gewalt beim israelischen Angriff auf die Gaza-Solidaritätsflotte überstieg jede Erwartung. Die israelische Marine griff im Morgengrauen des 31. Mai in internationalem Gewässer die Freiheitsflotte an. Im August 2009 besuchte eine internationale Jugendbrigade das palästinensische Flüchtlingslager Ein El-Hilweh. Der Einsatz war Teil des gemeinsamen Projektes der europäischen Freiwilligenorganisation Sumud (arabisch für „Standhaftigkeit“) mit der palästinensisch-libanesischen Organisation Nashet. Palestinian and European youth worked jointly in renovating a building, which had been destroyed in the successive sieges and bombardments of the camp. The restored building became a multipurpose community centre, a place of interchange, memory and civil commitment, a meeting point for all the young Palestinian of the refugee camp: the Cultural Centre “Sumud”. This year, Sumud starts the second phase: a new brigade will go to the camp. With the help of the collected donations, further restoration and furnishing works will be carried out in the centre.
