Protest note to the Minister of Justice of Turkey

3. September 2001

by Partido Obrero , Argentina

To the
Minister of Justice of Turkey
To the
Director General of the Prisons of Turkey

Sirs,

As representative of the Partido Obrero in the Parliament of Buenos Aires, I strongly protest the continued repression against the political prisoners and the menaces against his relatives, that support his fight. I strongly condemn the use of isolation cells in order to annihilate, physically and psychologically, the political prisoners and support the hunger strike that the popular fighters and his families.

The struggle of the Turkey´s peoples (Turkish and Kurdish) and the repression against this fight is ever present in the minds of Argentinean workers and young. In the May 1 meeting, international day of the working class, has been read in Buenos Aires a letter from the Turkey´s revolutionary socialist and thousands sing slogans against the repression of political prisoners.

Few days later, I and hundreds of workers and young of the Partido Obrero marched to the Turkey´s Embassy in Buenos Aires to protest against the isolation cells and to demand the end of the bloodbath against the political prisoners and his relatives. In this time, I meet a diplomatic counsellor of your Embassy and delivery him a strong protest note.

Once again, I strongly repudiate the repression against the political prisoners and demand his freedom.

Yours,
Jorge Altamira
Representative of the Partido Obrero in the Buenos Aires Parliament
