occupations forces under attack
When the US proxy invasion in Somalia by Ethiopian troops brought down the popular Islamic government in Mogadisho, we were neither astonished nor disappointed. For the time being the forces of popular resistance against the US empire do not have the capacities to withstand an all out attack in form of a regular war and to defend a state apparatus. This is true for Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and now also Somalia. But on an irregular level, in the asymmetric war the resistances have shown their capacity to hit the empire. This will be true also for Somalia.
As always Washington and its proxies, this time Addis Abeba, have cried victory and promised a swift pacification. But also this time this is nothing than wishful thinking. They hope that the can withdraw the Ethiopian occupation troops and stabilise a puppet government. But not one minute they ask themselves why the Islamic resistance could take power with the support of significant parts of the population. People not only ask for a solution of their social plight, they also want self-determination and to preserve their cultural identity. The US programme for Somalia is the exact contrary of the popular interest.
So it is only a question of time that also in Somalia the anti-imperialist guerrilla will spring up. When the corporate media reported about the first attacks on Ethiopian troops as well as governmental forces we not only welcomed this as good news but also as a confirmation of our analysis.
We are not only sure that the resistance against the US proxy forces will grow but we also lend our support to them. It is just another focus, another front in the democratic and anti-imperialist struggle against the US-led capitalist empire according to the old slogan “create two, three, many Vietnams”.
