Massive anti-US rally in Karachi

KARACHI, MARCH 19: To express solidarity with the resistance movement
of the Iraqi people and condemn American imperialist occupation of a
sovereign and independent country, a massive rally organized by
Stop-the-War Coalition consisting of several political parties, trade
unions, student organizations and women bodies, including the Communist
Mazdoor Kissan Party Pakistan (Communist Workers Peasants Party
Pakistan-CMKP), was held at Karachi, the biggest Industrial and
commercial city of Pakistan.

The participants were holding placards and banners exposing the ferocious character of American imperialism. The rally was brought out on the occasion of the fourth year of occupation of Iraq by the US troops. The participants were chanting against US military brutality in Iraq, Afghanistan and Israeli invasion on Lebanon and killing of the Palestinian people.

Among the participants belonging to the CMKP were General Secretary Ejaz Ghani, Central Committee members A.R.Arif and Zafar Aslam, besides the CMKP Karachi Committee President Danish and Secretary Qadir Khan and members Faisal, Junaid, Professor Sehar Anis, Allauddin, Essa Khan, Karim and others.

The rally marched from the heart of the city Regal Chowk, Saddar, to Zaibun un Nissa Street and Abdullah Haroon Road to the Karachi Press Club where the resolution was read out that expressed the evil face of US imperialism threatening military occupation of any country which does not succumb to US dictates. It demanded immediate withdrawal of US and allied troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. It demanded the Israeli pullout from the Palestinian territory. The people also raised slogans against the Musharraf government and condemned action against the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Iftekhar Mohammad Choudery. One of the slogans termed the US supporters as traitors. It condemned military operations in Balochistan and Waziristan, asking the government of Pakistan to stop killing the people.

Some participants raised the slogan of Socialism the only viable socio economic system, while classless society the only guarantee for freedom from economic miseries and war and destruction.
