Statement of the “Stop World War 3 – International Initiative for Peace” on the escalating wars in Palestine and Ukraine
The past few months have been enormously consequential for the anti-imperialist Resistances. Beginning with the telecommunications sabotage, the Zionist regime unleashed a brutal war on the people of Lebanon, first by air and sea, followed by an ongoing ground invasion. After a year of genocide, the Zionist regime shows no sign of stopping their war on the Palestinian people. There has only been an intensification of the war coupled with a denial of the most basic humanitarian assistance for the people in Gaza.
The recent assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and Yahya Sinwar have shown the depth of the struggle against Zionism and the sacrifice needed to confront it. In response to the assassinations of Haniyeh, Nasrallah, and Iranian General Abbas Nilforoushan, the Islamic Republic of Iran unleashed nearly 200 ballistic missiles on the Zionist state, targeting military and intelligence sites including the headquarters of Mossad. The strike was successful, showing the weakness of the so-called “Iron Dome”.
In Eastern Europe, Ukrainian forces invaded the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, escalating and intensifying the conflict. Cheered on by the West, Ukrainian forces pushed into the Russian Federation before being beaten back. In the meantime, Russia has made significant gains in the Donbass. The Ukrainians continue to seek permission to use more advanced missiles to target deep within Russian territory. Most recently, Zelensky spoke of the Ukrainian desire for acquiring nuclear weapons. This was a red line and was immediately criticized by Russian officials. The possibility of confrontation between NATO and Russia continues to grow.
In our own countries, our movements face growing repression and McCarthyism, often dismantling historic democratic constitutional rights. The governments aligned with imperialism use fear and division as tools to silence dissent and undermine movements in solidarity with Palestine and advocating peace with Russia. The same forces that seek to crush the rights of the Palestinian people also aim to stifle revolutionary voices at home, labeling them as threats to public order and national security.
We stand resolutely in solidarity with those fighting against imperialism and for self-determination. This violence is not an isolated act but part of a broader system of oppression targeting those who resist genocide, Zionist colonial domination, and military occupation. We understand that the struggles of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples are intrinsically linked to our fight. It is our duty to stand against the criminalization of those who advocate for peace, justice, and an end to imperialism. We reject the narrative that equates dissent with treason. Only united can we confront both the violence abroad and the repression at home.
